AQUACLIMATE
Strengthening Adaptive Capacities to the Impacts of Climate Change in Small-scale Aquaculture and aquatic resources-dependent sectors in the south and south east Asian region.

CLIMAWATER
Climate Change Impacts on River Basins in Semi-arid Areas in India: Mitigation and Adaptation Measures to Address Current and Future Challenges.
In cooperation with: CLIMAWATER is a joint project by Bioforsk (The Norwegian Institute for Agriculture and Environment) and IIT Delhi to be implemented in the Godavari River Basin.
CLIMARICE
Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability identifies water resources and agriculture (especially food security) and forestry, coastal zones and marine systems( fisheries) among the areas that are most sensitive to climate change.
In cooperation with: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (India) and International Pacific Research Centre (Hawaii, USA).

Vision:
The world's fourth largest economy, China is a priority partner for Norwegian research according to The Norwegian Government's China Strategy of 2007, which identified research as a priority area in the cooperation between Norway and China. A new bilateral agreement between Norway and China on research and technology was signed in 2008 (The Research Council of Norway) and a new China program was launched in 2008-2017: 200 mill NOK for a 10-year period.
Priorities 1st stage: Climate Change, Environment and Welfare (The Research Council of Norway). RCN will through thematic research programmes seek cooperation with Chinese research funding counterparts. In correspondence with the national strategy, Bioforsk har also identified China as one of the most important countries for our international collaboration.
Goal:
Our goal is to establish a long-stand scientific collaboration with Chinese organizations on sustainable food production and environmental research; 2) to build up a platform for exchanging scientists and students between Bioforsk and Chinese organizations.
Current status and main projects:
Up to date, Bioforsk has developed bilateral collaboration with following Chinese research organizations:
- Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS), Changchun, China
- Chines Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Beijing, China
- Northeast Normal University in Changchun (NENU), Changchun, China
- Sichuan Agricultural University, Yaan, China
- Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute (YSFRI), Qingdao, China
- Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences (LAAS), Shenyang, China
- Yellow River Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
Three memorandum of understandings (MoUs) between Bioforsk and Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS), Bioforsk and Plant Protection institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) were signed in 2007 and Bioforsk and Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences (LAAS) in 2008 for promoting future collaboration.
Main projects:
Development of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation method for elite maize cultivar and improvement of its yield.
National project from China (2008-2010).
Project leader: Professor Guangtang Pan, Maize Research Institute, Sichuan Agricultural University, Yaan, China and Dr Jihong Liu Clarke, Bioforsk participate in the project.
