Grassland and landscapes

Grassland and landscapes

Grass production represents the largest and most economically important plant production in Norwegian agriculture.

Testing of grass species adjusted to different regions in Norway, fertilization and tillage research, grazing management and ensiling quality, are key activities. Research on grassland management is focused on production systems to ensure crop stability and quality of grass for fodder. Bioforsk also conduct research on grass for energy purposes.

Cultural landscape research

There is also a significant focus on the records of biological diversity, habitats and landscapes, maps, management and landscape analysis. Within the cultural landscape research, our perspective of management is central, with activities including biological diversity and environmental plans.
